Project Rules
  • If you do not abide to the following rules, your submission may be subject to removal.
  • You may only upload videos you have created yourself. Be creative! Please, no sexually explicit videos.
  • Music is not allowed.
  • Please try to avoid using the original Star Wars audio. Part of the fun is making the audio yourself, too!
  • After accepting your scene, you only have 30 days to complete it.
  • When recording your video, please do it in a 4:3 format (not widescreen). Not everyone has HD cameras!
  • Each scene is 15 seconds, so let's try to keep it exact. Going over or under a few seconds is fine.
  • Make sure the beginning and end of your scene matches up closely to the original. This will help make the final piece come out smoothly.
  • Have fun!

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Can I still participate in Star Wars Uncut?
Unfortunately we will not be accepting any more submissions. More Uncut films are in the works!
  • How long do I have to finish my scene?
You have 30 days from when you choose your scene to create your scene and upload it. After that, it's open to anyone else to claim it and give it a shot.
  • Does my scene have to be live action?
Certainly not. You can re-create your scene however you want, be it live action, stop motion, flipbooks, action figures... animated ASCII art, whatever. The more creative, the better.
  • Why can't I use any music?
I'm planning to overlay the original soundtrack across the final version of the movie, therefore I'd prefer no music in it to make it easier on me. If you're creating your own audio, please do not add the Star Wars soundtrack on top of it or your scene will be removed. There are a few exceptions: 1) You're allowed to use the original audio. 2) Singing is allowed :)
  • How many scenes can I have?
You can have do up to three scenes total.
  • Why do other people also have my scene?
Multiple people are allowed to have a scene so that everyone can be a part of Star Wars: Uncut! A rating system is in the works to choose everyone's favorite version of each scene. Don't worry though- All scenes will be kept forever so that we can watch Star Wars a completely different way every time!
  • I have just one scene, but I can't choose another, how come?
To make sure everybody's actively participating, you need to upload a video before you can choose an additional scene.
  • I'm almost done with my scene, but I need a few more days...
Send me an email to casey@starwarsuncut.com with your Vimeo user account, scene number, and what you're looking to do and I'll consider it.
  • I uploaded my scene, but something went wrong...
Don't worry, Vimeo gives you the option to replace your video. Go to the video's settings page and click on the Video File tab. Don't delete the video!
  • How do I make my scene even more awesome?
Check out effectsportal.net! Thanks to Ben Nash for creating this helpful site.
  • Will you be doing more Uncut versions of movies?
More Uncut movies are definitely in the works.
  • Will there be a a final version posted online?
That's the goal, right? The video will be online and a DVD might be in the works, too.
  • Is there a deadline for the entire project?
    TBA
  • Who made this?
    Casey Pugh!
